Millennials are expected to be 50% of the workforce by 2020, but that doesn’t mean older workers are becoming irrelevant. Forbes recently shared five strategies older employees can use to stay tapped into the changing work environment.
Workers who are over 50 often feel like they are overlooked in the work world these days, but there are approaches they can take to stay connected with their younger colleagues and ensure that they aren’t overlooked on the job. These include:
- 1. Teaming up with millennials instead of viewing them as a threat.
- 2. Don’t resist change.
- 3. Leverage online learning sites to stay updated on relevant skills.
- 4. Establish a personal brand.
- 5. Don’t forget about networking.
These tips can be particularly helpful for survivors who have taken time off for treatment or who are experiencing long-term side effects that may have caused them to slow down a bit at work.
