Low Seow Yee was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2023 while working for a government agency in Singapore. Her bosses were very supportive and she took time off while she underwent two surgeries and over 15 rounds of radiation. When she returned to work, she realized her perspective had changed. "It was on my first day back at work when I realized, 'Oh no, I really don't want to do this.'...It occurred to me that if I keep on doing this, I don't know — I feel like maybe I'm missing out on some experiences in life." She resigned from her job and opened a laundromat with her husband. This allowed her to work for herself and create a community that is more fulfilling than her previous job.
