Katie Nicholl - February 2025
Katie Nicholl's job is to report on the Royal Family for Vanity Fair. She was diagnosed in 2023 with cholangiocarcinoma also known as bile duct cancer. She had surgery to remove part of her liver and went through six months of chemotherapy. She had a goal of being present for King Charles' Coronation. "It allowed me to feel like me rather than like a cancer patient. I had told virtually no one in my professional sphere what I was going through. I wanted to keep my diagnosis private while I came to terms with it and healed both physically and emotionally."
Within a year of her own diagnosis, she was unexpectedly reporting on the cancer diagnoses of King Charles and Princess Kate. "It felt surreal, but I also knew I was able to look down the camera and tell audiences that cancer is not always a death sentence."
