Chris Mannix - December 2024
ESPN reporter Adrian Wojnarowski shocked some people earlier this year when he announced he was leaving his high-paying job at ESPN to become the general manager of a small college in Western New York that pays 99% less than he made on TV. While he had become a bit disillusioned and burned out by his previous job, a new Sports Illustrated profile revealed he was diagnosed with prostate cancer earlier this year as well. In his retirement statement he said, "Time isn't in endless supply" which was a realization his diagnosis helped him discover.
"The only reason to stay was the money. That wasn’t a good enough reason...What I was doing, it just wasn’t fulfilling anymore. I was just done. This is what gets me excited. To learn something new, to be part of something like this. It’s a whole new challenge"
