Liz Reyes, an anchor at Fox 8 in New Orleans, was at work about to go on air when she received her thyroid cancer diagnosis in August. "It’s news that rocks you to your core. To this day, I don’t know how I completed the newscast that day." She underwent surgery to remove the cancerous part of her thyroid and treated an inflamed nerve connected to her vocal chord. This caused her to lose her voice for several weeks while she recovered, making her unable to work temporarily.
