Sarah Stierch - January 2024
Rebecca Romero Beiber started her own business running a food truck called Retro Wagon along California Route 1 in 2022. She was building up a group of regular customers when she was diagnosed with cancer in April of 2023, less than 10 months after she opened the truck. She planned to keep the truck open when she was originally told she would need just a few weeks of treatment, but that turned into five months of surgeries and radiation, and the food truck was closed down in May.
After two surgeries, recovery from an infection, and twenty rounds of radiation, she had finally completed her treatments by September, and Retro Wagon was back up and running on October 2nd. Wanting to give back, she ran a fundraiser last month called Burgers for Boobs which raised over $1000 from burger sales that was donated to the Cancer Resource Center of Mendocino where she received support during her treatment. Romero Beiber said, "Giving back is just a small way to show them my appreciation."
