City of Miami Commissioner Manolo Reyes was diagnosed with leukemia in September of this year. He has been working from home since starting treatment, originally disclosing just to his close family and staff. Last week, ahead of his reelection, he confirmed his diagnosis to the press stating, "I don’t see why such a personal thing is news."

This is Reyes's second cancer diagnosis, after previously undergoing treatment in 2019. He did not disclose his diagnosis publicly back then, and continued to work throughout, never missing a City Commission meeting.
