Adam Winkler - July 2022
NFL rookie John Metchie III was drafted to the Houston Texans and supposed to join his new team last week for training, but treatment for acute promyelocytic Leukemia will make him unlikely to play this season. The team is providing complete support and is hoping to get him back on the field once he is finished. General manager Nick Caserio said, “We're blessed to have some of the best doctors and the best hospitals in Houston, so he's been under great care. We're trying to keep him engaged, trying to keep him involved, but the most important thing is his health and his well-being.”
Teammate Brandin Cooks added, “The first time you meet him, his spirit is just so amazing…No doubt in our minds he's going to get through this, and we'll be with him every step of the way... Just can't wait for him to be able to recover.”
