Jared Kushner revealed he was treated for thyroid cancer while serving in the White House in 2019. He received his diagnosis from a White House physician while traveling on Air Force One. Kushner decided not to disclose his diagnosis to anyone except his wife and a couple aides. He even planned his surgery around a holiday saying, “We scheduled the operation for the Friday before Thanksgiving. That way, I would miss the least amount of time in the office. My absence might even go unnoticed. That’s how I wanted it.”
Kushner felt work was a welcome distraction from his treatment. He said he tried “not to think about the upcoming surgery or the unwanted growth in my body. When I did think about it, I reminded myself that it was in the hands of God and the doctors, and that whatever happened was out of my control.”
