Clea Shearer, the star and creator of Get Organized on Netflix, revealed she’s been diagnosed with invasive mammary carcinoma, an aggressive form of breast cancer. She is recovering from a double mastectomy and undergoing chemotherapy followed by radiation. But that isn’t stopping her from working. With the help of business partner Joanna Teplin, Shearer continues to work on The Home Edit, their home organizing business, the Netflix show and a new magazine.
Furthermore, she is adding to her already busy schedule by starting her own foundation. The Clea Shearer Breast Cancer Research Fund will be part of the larger V Foundation. 100% of donations to the new foundation will go toward cancer research thanks to an endowment that covers operating costs.
"I've been very adamant that I want my cancer to feel purposeful, to have an impact," Shearer said. "I think that pushing through this moment and looking towards the future is the only way that I feel like I can truly make a difference. Research is such a critical component of breast cancer because it's how we know how it develops. It's how we find new diagnostic tools. It's how we discover groundbreaking new therapies."
