John Keim - December 2020
Washington Football Team coach Ron Rivera was diagnosed with cancer months after being hired.
Throughout the course of his treatment at Inova Schar Cancer Institute in Fairfax, Virginia, he found support and a sense of community from the physicians and nurses. Choosing to continue to work, Rivera would plan his week in advance, including treatments, medication, and meals. Throughout the course of his treatment he managed to only sit out for three practices, and never missed a game.
Dr. Gopal Bajaj said, “He scheduled cancer around the rest of his life and not the other way around.”
