Steve Hendrix, Ovetta Wiggins and Arelis R. Hernandez - January 2019
President of the Maryland Senate, Thomas V. Mike Miller Jr., a figure in the Senate Chamber for over three decades has revealed to his fellow lawmakers, reporters and visitors to the chamber that he is being treated for Stage 4 prostate cancer. This has come as a blow to not only Miller and his family, but to the Senate he's been leading for years.
Colleague Sen. Paul G. Pinsky stated, "Personally, it felt a little uncomfortable...to see him physically being not what you're used to. I really want him to beat this thing." Despite the concerns and emotions involved, Miller continues forward with his role as a mainstay in the Senate.
