Chef Ellen McCarty has spent most of her life in the kitchen, pursuing her passion of cooking. That is, until cancer forced her to sell the restaurant she's owned and operated for nearly thirty years. However, after multiple recurrences, McCarty has been told she is cancer-free and is prepared for her return to the kitchen.

McCarty is joining her close friend and colleague, Dean Corbett for a wine-and-dessert-tasting event on February 16. The timing is significant as she finishes her last round of chemo on January 19th and feels this is going to be her fresh start and a new era in her career.

Corbett highlights McCarty's devotion to her passion, stating, "She's my hero. She's the strongest person I've ever met in my life. If she ever has a bad day, she doesn't show it."
