Harley Street Concierge - July 2017
According to British cancer charity, Macmillan, cancer will affect one in two people by 2020. 34% of new cancer cases in the UK each year are of working age, making the current number just over 700,000 people of working age living with cancer. Seeing as the number of those affected continues to increase, a growing number of companies are making the support of employees with cancer a higher priority on the workplace agenda.
Despite this increased push, employers still have a ways to go. Research by Canada Life found over one-third of employees believe they would get no form of support from their employer if they had cancer. The survey also revealed that people who have personally experienced cancer are more skeptical regarding the support of their employer.
