Katie Scott - July 2017
According to a research study conducted by Canada Life Group Insurance, over a third (36%) of respondents - 1,010 full-time and part-time UK employees - believed they would receive no form of support from their employer if they were diagnosed with cancer. The survey also found that 41% of respondents would be uncomfortable discussing a cancer diagnosis with their employer or colleagues.
Marketing Director at Canada Life Group said, "People who have personally experienced cancer are more skeptical about the support of their employer, which is particularly damning. While many employers might feel they are understanding and accommodating when it comes to cancer, it is clear that more needs to be done in terms of support."
