Pam Adams, a school cafeteria lady, has continued to work despite her September diagnosis of Stage 4 lung cancer. Adams says that continuing to work has less to do about labor and more about living.
Seeing as the chemo that she is on has affected her balance, her doctors have suggested she take time off and not work, but Adams claims, "I'm not that kind of person. I can't not work." She also suggests that staying active has given her to opportunity to remain connected to the community she loves, and that is a meaningful medicine for her.
