Shorma Jones is no stranger to cancer, as she has battled it four times. Fighting the disease for the last 13 years has not been an easy journey. The day marking her 13th year as a cancer survivor was spent doing what has sustained her throughout, her work.
As an employee of Courts Barbados Limited for 26 years, Jones managed to turn up for work just days after undergoing chemo or radiation, after each treatment. Shorma reveals she came up with a slogan for herself, "cancer is not a death sentence". Despite difficult side effects from treatment, Jones had a positive attitude, stating "I was happy to be at work, happy to be alive, happy in general."
