Karli Barnett - September 2016
Crystal Wisecup made the decision that she did not want to return to teaching, following the news of her cancer-free status last year. At just 23 she was diagnosed with non-Hodgkins Lymphoma after being told she had a 13 cm mass between her heart and chest cavity. This experience had a great impact on how she wishes to live her life.
Wisecup decided to leave teaching to become an oncology nurse, and the teacher has again become the student. The emotional roller coaster of cancer had an extreme impact on her and influenced her to become a teacher of another sort. She wishes to use her experience as a cancer patient to educate and assist others going through similar experiences.
