Real estate agent, Paul Berryman, was diagnosed with terminal prostate cancer in January; he told his employers on January 19, and less than three weeks later, his contract was terminated. Though the termination was apparently related to Berryman's poor interaction with clients, though he claims that the timing is extremely suspect.
Berryman claims he was a top listing agent and believes that his disclosure of his diagnosis was what caused the termination. He says he told management of his diagnosis in an effort to honest and open with them regarding time off he may need. As a private contractor, rather than an employee of the company, he feels he'd have more rights. He has brought the issue to the Human Rights Commission who has agreed to take on his case.
