Though Mitchell Meyers suffered many losses following his diagnosis of Hodgkin's lymphoma, including his hair, eyebrows, significant weight, he never lost his love for football and drive to play again. Meyers will be returning to play for the Iowa State Cyclones this season and he couldn't be more excited.
Iowa State coach Matt Campbell has a feeling Meyers will play a big part in their team's success this year. Treatment was no small feat for Meyers as he underwent 12 rounds of chemo. Though the plan was for him to head home to begin radiation, he was told the cancer was not only still present, but growing. Then came another five rounds of chemo. Though Meyers most recent PET scan shows no evidence of the disease, he's still prepared for it's return. But in the meantime, his main focus is returning to the game her loves.
