Ruth Taylor - June 2016
Ruth Taylor gets honest with readers in her blog post describing the challenges she encountered following completion of her chemotherapy treatment. Describing 2015, a year when she was diagnosed after finding a lump in her breast, as a "pretty bad year" seems an understatement. She had to stop work, undergo fertility treatment, start two types of chemotherapy, have a mastectomy, and undergo 15 sessions of radiotherapy.
Though throughout the process she continuously reminded herself it was almost over, she realized that once it was over, she really didn't feel much better, in fact, she felt worse than right after she was diagnosed. Taylor describes the pressure she felt to be "normal" and "happy" again and the expectations projected on her that now life should go on.
