Beth Weathersby was diagnosed with Stage III breast cancer in October of 2015. Following a double mastectomy, chemo, and further treatments, Weathersby is anxious to return to the work she loves, providing massages. However, she is aware she needs to nurture herself before returning to work. That's where the STAR program has come in to help her.
The Survivorship Training and Rehabilitation, or the STAR program, at St. Mary's Hospital aims to get cancer patients back to doing the things that make their life worth living. STAR's program coordinator, Debra Hess, states "this has the ability to make a drastic improvement in the outcome of someone's overall health. To give them that functionality back and that life back, that's huge."
