In an interview ESPN reporter Shelley Smith discusses her recovery from breast cancer.With a surgery in January of last year, chemotherapy and radiation followed. However, Smith states she refused to live in fear. She'd just gotten her contract renewed with ESPN when two months later she was told of her diagnosis. 

Smith admits being terrified, but she made a plan and after that the fight seemed more winnable and an easier battle. She says though work was aware, they had little idea how to handle it. However, they learned, and now others at ESPN with a diagnosis have sought advice from her.
