France is preparing to pass a law that provides workers the "right to disconnect" from work emails outside of their contracted hours in a bid to ease pressure and provide a better work-life balance. Evenings and weekends will ultimately be "off-limits" for bosses to expect responses from their employees.
Under current law, France is already operating under a strict 35-hour working week policy and providing employees with six weeks paid holiday and generous sick leave. With the increasingly widespread use of smartphones and other mobile devices, there has been an increase in overworking. The new labor law is aimed at preventing workers' burn-out.
