Sarah Bahari - November 2016
Kristi Evans was working as a kindergarten teacher when she got the fateful call that she was diagnosed with breast cancer. The diagnosis led to a mastectomy, follow-up surgeries and chemotherapy, but perhaps most notably to Evans, a career shift.
Following a nearly 20-year teaching career, Evans decided to become a certified cancer navigator at the Joan Katz Breast Center at Baylor Scott & White All Saints Medical Center in Fort Worth. Evans self-describes herself as "the chief hand-holder and purveyor of hugs. As a survivor, I am the emotional support."
