Patrick Gomez - November 2016
Jamie Luis Gomez, better known as Taboo from the group the Black Eyed Peas, has recently decided to share his battle with testicular cancer. With the support of his real family and his musical family, he underwent surgery and 12 rounds of chemo. Taboo cites inspiration from sports figures who have endured similar battles, and says he too channeled his energy into his passion, music.
Though he made the decision to stay quiet about his diagnosis and treatment until he was given the "all clear", he expressed his feelings through writing lyrics about his cancer journey. Echoing the struggles many who have undergone treatment experience, Taboo says "I had chemo brain and kept fading in and out, but my team kept me focused because they knew how important it was."
