Natalie Richardson - October 2016
Natalie Richardson recognizes the role a career plays in one's identity. As a cancer survivor, she is further aware the way her job, and the ability to do her job, affected the way she felt about herself and her life. Her understanding of the general goal in life is to be comfortable in life as a direct result of what one does for work.
Richardson's experience with a diagnosis of cancer greatly affected her work as a manager of a busy cash and payroll system for an employer of around 70 people. Her ability to manage her responsibilities as she went from operating room to bed rest to treatments, became more difficult. After a two year (and counting) recovery period, the trajectory of her career felt completely changed. Richardson is quick to point out, however, the unique options for cancer patients as they balance work and cancer.
