Kitsy Rose - August 2015
Lisa George was diagnosed with breast cancer in June 2006. She had a successful career as a top radio salesperson, which she loved since she started in 1992. After recovery she returned to work at a different radio station with a new format and colleagues, which she enjoyed, but in 2008 she lost her income, as many others did after the economic downturn.
Five years post-diagnosis, George was depressed and went to visit a local bead shop to improve her mood. She brought some vintage jewels from family members and made a necklace inspired by images from a fashion magazine. Her friends loved her jewelry which led to many requests and she ultimately left her radio career to stater her own boutique in 2012. Now her designs can be found in more than 200 boutiques in the U.S. and Canada.
