Patrolman Nick Colaneri earned the nickname "Officer Superman" when he continued working through his chemotherapy treatment. After being on the force for less than a year, Colaneri was diagnosed with Stage 4B Hodgkin's lymphoma. Though most police departments wouldn't allow it, Colaneri's chief let him continue to work through treatment.
Within 48 hours of a chemo treatment, Colaneri returned to work. Now that he's gotten a clean bill of health and the cancer is in remission, Colaneri is elated but still humble "I did not prove anybody wrong, I continued to do my job."
