Ashley McRoy felt she was born to be a model, tall and slim with long blonde hair. When the opportunity to give modeling a real shot presented itself, McRoy was ecstatic. Unfortunately, she also discovered she had colon cancer, an extreme rarity for someone her age.
McRoy had trouble absorbing the information, not so much because she was fearing death, but rather she was concerned her new-found modeling career would be halted before she even began. She feared that as she took the time to recuperate, she would lose the 'young' appeal that favored models in the industry.
Following months of grueling chemotherapy treatments, she was told the cancer was gone. She'd beat very slim odds and was determined to begin the career she had, just a few short months earlier, been so close to embarking upon. On a recent photo shoot, she recalls thinking to herself "I realized how lucky I was to even be there. I'd come so close to death...but now, I was fulfilling my dream."
