Tricia Harte - November 2015
Joshua Comeau is a fighter, both in his personal life and in his career as a firefighter. Comeau has returned to work after being away for 529 days, receiving treatment for an avocado-sized tumor in his brain. With a strong air of positive thinking, Comeau decided he would face cancer head on and not let it determine the way he would live his life. Comeau also walked away with a different perspective following his experience, "I've walked away from this with some good side effects: an increase in patience, an increase in gratitude, thankfulness. These are all good side effects of cancer."
Comeau told NewsCenter 16 in September of 2014, "I looked at myself like Superman because I could do whatever I want and my body just had to keep up. It had to because I never gave it an option." Though he recognizes his body may not be able to do everything it had before, he has come to terms with the fact that and is grateful for a chance to return to the familiar sights and sounds of the firehouse and his routine.
