Dena Brown, a nurse at Carolinas Hospital System. was diagnosed with breast cancer when she attended her first mammogram after skipping her annuals for three years. When she went back in for a biopsy, she knew it was serious. Brown states, "it started getting real to me...but I have a lot of faith and had a lot of people praying for me...they supported me, and my friends at work everybody was doing whatever they could."
Brown cites every day as a blessing and recognizes having treatment where she worked as providing her with peace of mind. "She not only came to work, she never complained", Brown's co-worker states, "She's a tough cookie,"
