Melissa Wood, chief administrative officer at Burns & McDonnell, an engineering, architecture and consulting firm in Kansas City, MO, was diagnosed with ovarian cancer in 2013. She looked forward to going to work during treatment because she could feel "like Melissa, not the cancer patient."
