The Australian site News.com.au recently wrote about singer Anastacia, who has faced a number of health problems over the course of her career, including two battles with breast cancer. With the launch of her new album, she tells the news site how her health issues have impacted her career and helped to define her.

According to the site, Anastacia claims that the cancer has “stopped” a lot of her career, that her “health issues have really gotten in the way.” Still, the singer goes on to tell News.com.au that “you just have to pick up where you left off: I’ve had tours cancelled and other things fall through, and I’ve always tried to handle it with grace. But look, if I could not give myself diseases, I totally would, because I hate to be known as ‘the chick with breast cancer.’ But it’s a proud badge I do wear instead of feeling shameful.”
