The Louisville Courier-Journal recently shared the story of Metro Council President Jim King who passed away earlier this month after a battle with cancer. King did not publicly disclose his diagnosis and continued to work through chemotherapy. The article explains:
"So, as King kept what his son said was a 'murderous' schedule and stayed up until 2 a.m. or 3 a.m. working, the council president was also quietly undergoing chemotherapy. Jimmy King said his father, 'one of the toughest people I know,' did not want the cancer to distract from his work or define him. 'He didn't want what he was going through to take away from what he was trying to accomplish,' Jimmy King said. He said his father wanted to be known as a banker, CPA and Metro councilman, 'which he loved.'"
