Heather Millar - September 2014
A blog on WebMD explores the challenges of working through treatment and how to determine what’s best for you — staying on the job or taking time off. Author Heather Millar collected practical tips on this topic from her breast cancer group and social media.
Millar begins the piece with her own work-and-cancer story, saying, “I am in complete awe of those of you who work through treatment. My brain turned to mush as soon as I started chemo, and didn’t really get close to normal until a year or so later. And since writing requires focus and imagination, working through chemo and radiation was impossible for me.”
She goes on to acknowledge that each person’s decision around whether to work though treatment is their own and depends on a number of factors. Millar also lists tips to help you figure out the best path if you are faced with this decision.
