An article in the Irish Independent discusses Tony Ward's, an Irish Independent rugby columnist and rugby star, battle with prostate cancer. Ward talks about how it impacted his view of his career and his decision to finally share the news of his diagnosis. Of his cancer experience, Ward said, "'I feel better about myself and within myself, and it has helped me come to terms with some of the disappointments of my career and my life to date.'" Ward initially chose to keep the diagnosis to himself, but ultimately decided to share the news in hopes that it would persuade other men to get checked and catch the cancer early. The decision to disclose a diagnosis is a personal one that each person needs to decide after weighing a variety of factors, such as diagnosis, treatment plan, etc.
