One of the most recognizable voices on Irish radio is set to return to the air after his cancer battle, reports the Ireland Herald. DJ Tony Fenton is excited to get back on the air after 5 months of treatment. Fenton spoke about his experience after being diagnosed, how he decided to take time off from his job so he could finish treatment, and that his bosses encouraged him to take the time off.
" 'I actually didn't want to take so much time off but the bosses said, 'Really, do. Take the time out because you'll need the rest. And there will be days you do wake up and not want to get out of bed,' he said."
Having the support of bosses and colleagues is incredibly important for cancer patients and survivors. For more information on how to support a coworker who is diagnosed with cancer, check out the Coworkers section of our website.
