Hollywood-based singer/songwriter Diane Ward discusses her breast cancer journey in the Broward Palm Beach New Times. She says she chose to focus on working on her latest album after the diagnosis, saying, “I used it as a vehicle to get through the treatment. The chemo, the radiation.” Ward said that though the songs on her new album were written before her diagnosis, the emotion in her performances is related to her cancer experience.
Everyone copes with their diagnosis in a different way, but we often hear that working during or after treatment helps patients/survivors maintain a sense of normalcy and provides an escape from “cancerland.”
