Military.com recently published an article about Command Sgt. Maj. William A. Thompson, who remains “on active duty and continues to make an impact on soldiers and the Army at Fort Bliss” after having overcome cancer during the past year. The five-time recipient of the Bronze Star says his battle with cancer is “the second toughest fight of his career, behind participating in the battle of Ramadi in Iraq in 2007 during the height of the Surge.”
