CBC News reports that Ed Battock, a Happy Valley–Goose Bay resident, will not let his cancer diagnosis stop him from his work fundraising for Smile Train, a nonprofit that provides cleft-lip surgeries to children around the globe. Thus far, the funds Battock has raised recycling cans and bottles have helped 107 children. The article explains that while the cancer diagnosis had slowed Battock down, he has no plans to stop his charitable efforts. His goal is to help 100 children this year.
