Beren Cross - October 2014
Lorraine Bond has been fighting cancer and liver disease for the last two-and-a-half years. Earlier this week, she was let go from her job because she needed too much sick time, reports the Swindon Advertiser. Bond has been working at the company since 2009, and was let go after three long absences due to her health since 2012. In the article, Bond talks about the situation, saying " 'I have always given them everything. Every time they needed someone, I was there. I was very reliable. I understand I have had time off, but it was no fault of my own. If I hadn’t had this illness I would have been at work.' "
Discrimination at work is something that many cancer survivors unfortunately have to deal with.
