The Kokomo Tribune shared the inspiring stories of two hairdressers, Nanci Pierce and Susan Cottingham, who have both battled breast cancer, and found support from each other and many clients who have also had breast cancer. Their stories touch on how they returned to work and how that helped them through their cancer journeys. The owner of the salon where they work, Kenlyn Watson, spoke about how Nanci handled the diagnosis and treatment at work:
"Watson said Pierce handled the diagnosis and treatment better than just about anyone she’s seen, returning to work after just 16 days, instead of the allotted eight-week recovery period. 'She’s got a lot of fortitude,' Watson said. 'I’ve had probably 15 to 20 clients that have had breast cancer and none of them have bounced back as quickly as she has. That says a lot about her.' "
