Stage 3C Colon Cancer Sigmoidectomy and Chemotherapy
How do you feel today?
I have neuropathy from the chemo.
As a nail tech and a microblading artist before diagnosis, I cannot return to my career. I am currently working part time at a pack and ship store. I dont think i can work fulltime. The neuropathy in my feet can get painful. The neuropathy in my hands has improved but they get cramped up if I use it for long periods. Even typing sets the neuropathy off. I'm very frustrated.
Since the diagnosis, what has changed in your life?
Everything has changed. Being a survivor has definitelty changed my outlook on life. I dont sweat the petty things. I feel guilty. So many new friends I have made will not have the outcome I have and my heart hurts for them as they suffer.
I dont know what else to do career wise.
What is going well for you right now?
This part time job. But its not really paying the bills.
Im very happy the neuropathy feels better with the medications I take to take the "ouch" away. But ity doesnt make the neuropathy better. The side effects of the meds make me even more forgetful, tired and unbalanced.
What is not going well for you right now?
not making the money I used to make.
After my colon surgery, I dont know how my bowel movements are going to be after eat meal.
What has been the most challenging thing about having cancer?
Listening to everyone's advice and hurtful uneducated and ignorant comments.
When difficulties overwhelm you, where do you go for support?
Colontown.org has been my savior
How have your long-term goals or life goals changed since diagnosis?
I dont know.......career, feels like its over.
What is your work arrangement right now? What are your hours?
I work 3 hours a day a little over minimum wage
Since the diagnosis, what has changed in your work life?
I cannot go back to my job due to neuropathy
