Dorry L. on December 2, 2021
I was Diagnosed with:
Stage 4 Neuro endocrine cancer
Employment Status:
Social security disability
Gender/Age:
Female/54
Type and Description of Treatments:
Had chemo every 21 days for 6 months.
How do you feel today?
Blessed. Cancer is currently in remission. Wake up every day thanking God but also questioning God if today is the day it returns.
Since the diagnosis, what has changed in your life?
What hasn’t changed should be the question. Everything has changed.
What is going well for you right now?
My marriage.
What is not going well for you right now?
My thoughts, my depression.
What has been the most challenging thing about having cancer?
Having cancer. Trying to keep a positive outlook. Trying to not think about when it returns what if treatment doesn’t work.
When difficulties overwhelm you, where do you go for support?
No where
What is your work arrangement right now? What are your hours?
Social security disability. Cleared to return to work but unable to even get an interview anywhere. Lots of thank you but we are going with another candidate.
Since the diagnosis, what has changed in your work life?
No work
What advice do you have for others trying to work through treatment?
You’re not alone. Lean on your family and friends. Try not to keep all the emotions in.
How have you dealt with any side effects of treatment?
Ringing in my ear. Neuropathy in hands and feet
If "today's you" could give advice to "day-of-diagnosis you," what would you say?
You’re stronger then you realize. You got this.
