Breast Cancer
Employment Status:
Working Full Time and Part-Time
Gender/Age:
Female/50
Type and Description of Treatments:
Lumpectomy 2 weeks ago, and re-incision surgery scheduled for tomorrow.
How do you feel today?
Doing ok. Hoping all goes well tomorrow.
Since the diagnosis, what has changed in your life?
Frequent texts from family members. Whirlwind of doctor appointments.
What is going well for you right now?
Great team of doctors and nurses. Bosses have been very open and caring.
What has been the most challenging thing about having cancer?
Telling family, bosses, friends and co-workers. With the exception of my family, I have kept the number of folks I have told limited.
What is your work arrangement right now? What are your hours?
I have a full-time (40 hr/wk) job Monday thru Friday and a part-time job on Saturdays and Sundays (17 hr/wk).
Since the diagnosis, what has changed in your work life?
I have swapped shifts at the part-time job to cover when I was having surgery. At the full-time job I have paid-time off that I have been using for appointments/surgery.
