Home > Collective Diary > I can say I feel like me...driven to accomplish...

I was Diagnosed with:
Employment Status:
Gender/Age:
Type and Description of Treatments:
How do you feel today?
I can say I feel like me...driven to accomplish what ever I have on my list to do.
What advice do you have for others trying to work through treatment?
Get really angry and then let it go, what makes us mad the most is the fact we have no control over the actual diagnosis but we can control what happens next...
How have you dealt with any side effects of treatment?
I am very thankful that the side effects were minimal; I did lose my eyebrows and lashes 4 weeks after treatment but they do come back, about 8 weeks later. My hair is now very curly, very short (my family loves it) and I have not figured out what color it is.
If "today's you" could give advice to "day-of-diagnosis you," what would you say?
This may sound cliche but...it is what it is...I have to look at this disease just like any other; if I had a heart attack or a stroke I am not guaranteed that I will not have another one, there are no guarantees with cancer either nor in this life, I hate this as much as any one else but I refuse to dwell on it. It knocks you down - the saving grace is you get back up.
I said before to read, read, read and ask questions, but I will tell you now, you get to the point of not wanting to read anymore, you get to a point of "if I read anymore" I will scream. That's when you put the books and the pamphlets down and move on, be as positive as you possibly can, it does help.
