Functional resumes focus on your specific skills or competencies and less on your chronological work history. People use a functional resume for a variety of reasons - they are trying to change careers so want to deemphasize their past experience, they have been out of the workforce for a period of time or they have jumped around from job to job. I always recommend that you write a profile then a functional piece and then a briefer chronological history on your two page resume.

Hi Alice,
Functional resumes focus on your specific skills or competencies and less on your chronological work history. People use a functional resume for a variety of reasons - they are trying to change careers so want to deemphasize their past experience, they have been out of the workforce for a period of time or they have jumped around from job to job. Hope this helps!
Take care,
