Hello, I am the caretaker of a canser patient, currently working as a high school math teacher at our local public school. I am looking for ways to boost our income. Thank you.

Hello Eleni,
Thanks for reaching out to Cancer and Careers! Caregiving for someone with cancer can bring about it's own challenges, particularly in the income-related realm. We have a number of resources for caregivers that may provide some insight on how to handle some of the difficult aspects of balancing work and caregiving responsibilities. I encourage you to check out the Caregivers section of our website for helpful articles. Additionally, we have a webinar on Balancing Work & Caregiving that will be taking place later in the year if you are interested in joining us for that!
In terms of looking for additional income producing jobs, is there the opportunity for you to provide tutoring to students outside of school? Or perhaps assisting at a tutoring center? That way it's still in line with what you are doing daily and you won't have to be trained or learning anything new? There are certainly many seasonal jobs available over the summer if you are looking for a little something different. I would recommend checking out FlexJobs to get a sense of what is out there and then begin preparing ofr the job search.
We're happy to provide more resources and/or information if you are interested, feel free to reach out to cancerandcareers@cew.org to set up a time to chat further.
