Work/Life/Cancer Balance
I work for a Municipal Court. After my reconstruction surgery I was asked to go full time and did so with the office knowing that I was still recovering from surgeries and treatment and another surgery (hystorectomy) needing to be done in the near future. The judge does not follow the HR rules of the city and does believe in doing so. After I returned from my hystorectomy surgery and returned to work part time the judge decided to keep me full time with no explanation. I went to HR and they said there was nothing they could do. A judge can do what he wants because we are "AT WILL". I have stayed in the position for two years but I have felt "harassed" the whole time. It has been both emotionally and physically draining and has made my recovery slow. Why is it that a judge does not have to follow the laws of HR? My rights have been violated and I don't have any rights which I expressed to the HR. I can pursue a legal case if I am willing to lose my job. Neither do I want to lose my job nor do I have the finances. I am looking for a new job but it is a little difficult since I want to stay within the state retirement system.

I meant to say the judge has kept me part time since then.
